Leaking water in meter box in Fishtown

A Fishtown homeowner heard water dripping while working in her basement.

After closer examination she noticed water dripping from her meter socket and became concerned with the safety of her electrical service.

After speaking with the customer and requesting several images of the exisitng service Lauterborn Electric stopped by to evaluate the leaky issue.

The service cable on the exterior was exposed to the sun and elements and was fraying. This allowed water to get into the equipment inside causing oxidation and corrosion. A new 100 amp service was going to be necessary.

The new exterior service cable was sleeved in PVC conduit to give it added protection.

A new meter socket was installed to replace the rusty and waterlogged existing.

A new 20 circuit panel with a new breaker for every exisitng circuit property sized was also installed.

After re-energizing the new service we walked through the property and labelled the electrical panel.

The home owner’s response after completion “The guys were great- no problems, thank you and we will not hesitate to recommend Lauterborn Electric to anyone in need of electrical services”.
