Rewiring a Philadelphia Home

Lauterborn Electric does house rewiring in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.  We get asked all the time if the wiring in a home should be replaced.  The types of wiring we recommend removing and upgrading are ungrounded wire.

Knob and tube and old two wire cloth are two forms of wire we suggest you should replace.  We also normally advise when eliminating older wiring that you bring the room or area affected with the old style of wiring up to code. This usually involves adding a few outlets to each room.

We see older homes with one or two outlets per room with older wiring. For convenience some people use extension cords to plug in to these old outlets which is a safety hazard. The response from every customer who decides to bring their house to code is always positive. They love having more outlets and the ability to plug things in without extensions cords.  The pictures show some of the older types or wire, some rewiring and how we run our wiring when we do these types of jobs.
