Knob and Tube Again

Lauterborn Electric was called to another home in Philadelphia with knob and tube wiring and fuses.  The home owner was trying to get an idea of how bad it is to have knob and tube and what it would cost to get rid of it. If you own a home that was built before 1950 there is a possibility that you have ungrounded knob and tube wiring. Knob and tube is an outdated form of wiring and some insurance companies will not insure a home that has it.  Knob and tube was not created with today’s electrical demands in mind. Also, a big problem can occur when insulation is installed over top of it. It is not rated for that and can become a possible fire hazard. We tell customers to replace it if they can with newer wiring.   For all your Electrical needs contact your Licensed Philadelphia Electrician Lauterborn Electric.
