Installing From Scratch
The most common new installs go in bedrooms. The process of installing a ceiling fan from scratch can differ depending on conditions. If there is already good wiring at the switch in the bedroom it is just a matter of getting a wire from that box to a ceiling fan rated box.
Most of the time this requires making holes to get around framing. Installations in drywall ceilings are easier than plaster ceilings. A proper ceiling fan rated junction box should always be used. The pictures in the gallery below show different stages of the install process.
