The size of your main electrical service and size of your main electrical panel come into question when remodeling a kitchen. The NEC requires two separate lines to be installed on kitchen counter areas. This allows for the plugging of a toaster, blender or coffee maker. Appliances installed in a typical kitchen also require the running of dedicated lines to allow for the power consumption of a dishwasher, disposal, microwave, and refrigerator. Installing a big electric consuming electric oven and/or electric cook top may require the upgrading of the main electrical service and the installation of a larger panel. The images show an existing service that needed upgrading to allow for new circuitry on a kitchen remodel and the installation of a panel by Lauterborn Electric.
