Troubleshooting lights out or receptacles not working is something we do often as electricians. Many times the fact that the wiring is older or over extended over the years is often the culprit to electrical failure. However, in some instances we find newer installations with poor workmanship by unqualified electricians that lead to chronic problems to the unsuspecting home owner. Boxes over loaded with wiring or splices not done properly are 2 issues that can lead to an interruption of power. Lauterborn Electric was recently called out to a home that had lost power in a bathroom. When we opened one of the light fixtures we found wiring poorly spliced causing the wires to arc to the point of failure. We explained to the home owner that the wiring throughout her home more than likely had more faulty connections even though the property was only about 30 years old.
