Akari Fixture Installation

by Lauterborn Electric on November 7th, 2017

Lauterborn ElectricA dear repeat customer of Lauterborn Electric wanted to change the look in her dining room. She wanted a softer light to “calm the room down.” She ordered a crafted Akari light fixture with straight line horizontal bamboo ribbing. The designer, Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese- American artist began his hand crafted light sculptures in 1951 and named the objects Akari which means light in Japanese. The vision was to create both illumination and lightness. As described on their web site: “The light of Akari is like the light of the sun filtered through paper of washi. So that its warmth may continue fill our rooms at night” – Isamu Noguchi. For all of your electrical needs contact your Licensed Philadelphia Electricians, Lauterborn Electric.
