Panel Labeling Hazards

by Lauterborn Electric on August 9th, 2016

Lauterborn Electric Lauterborn ElectricPanel labeling is sometimes a tedious task for electricians especially if the house is not new construction. A panel should be labeled on a separate piece of paper or on the panel cover. Some electricians leave extra wire covering inside of panels to mark each line. This enhanced the danger of a trouble shoot situation we had recently. A customer called and said his breaker is tripping over and over again and he smells burning in the panel. The problem was a loose connection on the breaker. The wire was beginning to burn itself bare and the pictures show the labeling on the wire creating an even bigger hazard situation. The solution was to change the breaker which was extremely hot and cut the wire back to the part that was not damaged to reinstall on a new breaker.
