You need to call your electrician if you have a Federal Pacific electrical panel

by Lauterborn Electric on January 18th, 2013

The main function of a breaker is to safely monitor a circuit and trip if an overload or a short circuit was to occur. Federal Pacific is a brand that is less than adequate when it comes to doing its job. Federal Pacific lost their UL (Underwriters Laboratory) rating in the early 1980s but not before millions of Federal pacific panels and breakers were sold and installed. It is well documented in the electrical field that Federal pacific breakers will not trip during an over load situation creating the potential for a fire in the main panel. We at Lauterborn Electric often run into these panels and very strongly recommend to our customers replacing them. Contact you licensed electrician Lauterborn Electric for an electrical panel evaluation. The image shows a Federal Pacific Panel. Click to enlarge.
