Violation of the Week

What is a flying splice?

A flying splice is a slang term used when wires are spliced together without a junction box. This is an illegal and possibly dangerous condition. A junction box should be added to correct this poor workmanship.

Knob and tube circuits spliced or extended

Over the years building owners/occupants have extended and or modified their knob and tube wiring. This is an improper practice that is not permitted in most codes. In some jurisdictions this practice is illegal. Adding load to a knob and tube circuit risks overheating of the wiring and can possibly causing a fire.
